Group Video Chat Messenger allows calls with 50 contacts at a time
Facetime and Skype already have a new competitor: Facebook. The social network of Mark Zuckerberg has launched Group Video Chat for Messenger, a tool that will allow users of the platform to have a conversation on video with 50 people at a time.
Its operation is simple. You must create a new group conversation or an existing one. Then, you must touch the video icon that appears in the upper right part of the screen to include in the chat the members you want to participate, to whom a notification will come.
"With 245 million people making video calls in Messenger every month, now we bring everyone in Messenger the possibility of converting group chats in face-to-face conversations no matter where you are," they explain from the Facebook blog.
Until now, this type of multiple conversations were offered by platforms such as Google Hangouts or Skype. However, the limit of participants was ten. In addition, Messenger competes for personal conversations with WhatsApp and Snapchat, who also incorporate the video call option.
When the calls are of six people or less, the tool will show the image of all the participants in a grid on the screen. However, as the Facebook blog shows, when the conversation incorporates more individuals, Messenger will show the image of the one who made the call to the rest of the participants.
