Brussels authorizes the purchase of Yahoo by Verizon
The European Commission considers that the operation will not have a negative impact on the European economic area
Verizon warned this week that it is preparing to review the terms of the agreement - estimated at 4,830 million dollars (4,397 million euros) - after learning of the theft of data from 1,000 million accounts suffered by the Internet giant.
In its analysis, the community executive has concluded that the proposed operation does not pose any problem of competition in the EU market, because of the "moderate" position occupied by the firms and the limited growth that the transaction will take, in addition to other actors of weight offered by this type of services.
The file, which was notified to Brussels on November 17, has been examined under the simplified procedure that is assigned to less problematic cases.
