United Kingdom wants to block the phone when starting the car
The British authorities will meet with the operators to find a solution
More than 3,400 people die every day worldwide due to traffic accidents, according to data from the World Health Organization (WHO). Although this Organization emphasizes that the number of deaths due to this cause has stabilized.
One of the causes of these accidents is the use of smartphones while driving. Sending a whatsapp or taking a call can cause a final miserable. The Directorate General of Traffic warns that, after a minute and a half talking, 40% of traffic signals are no longer perceived.
Therefore, the United Kingdom has proposed to end these accidents and has raised a system that blocks the smartphone when the car is started, according to the publication Mashable.
The British authorities will meet from 2017 with the representatives of the operators and manufacturers of smartphones to create this type of technology.
At the moment, the Department of Transport of the United Kingdom has not given details of how it will work nor the date of application. However, "its development will be a priority for Transportation during the next year".
