The United States reviews social networks before entering the country
The tourist must fill out an online form with their online profiles to obtain the visa
Photography, full name, passport in order ... And now profiles in social networks. This is the last requirement of the United States to issue a visa in order to foreigners who travel to the United States in the coming months.
Since last week, the visa form, known as ESTA and which is completed online, has a new section: "social networks", although, for the moment, compliance is optional.
In this section, travelers must fill in the platforms in which they are present, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and also point out the user that identifies them in each of them.
The Obama administration approved this measure on December 19, after six months of negotiations with several critical voices that rejected its implementation due to the violation of human rights.
However, the Department of Customs and Border Protection states that this measure is optional and will not be denied entry to the country, it is only intended to "identify potential threats," according to Europe Press.
The measure is aimed at tourists visiting the United States through the Visa Waiver Program, which includes 38 countries, including Spain.
